Join us in Blackbutt, Queensland for the second of our "Gravel and Gourmet" weekends at Green Hills House, Blackbutt.
The weekend 9/10 September will see Blackbutt play host to not one but two Festivals! The first is the BVRT Festival of Cycling which participants will ride from various locations finishing in Blackbutt.
The second is the Avocado Festival which will be held in Blackbutt over the weekend.
Our venue, Green Hills House, is located opposite the finish of the cycling event and a very short walk to the Avocado Festival.
Our Gravel and Gourmet participants will receive special Gravel Cartel VIP treatment throughout their stay at the rustic boutique-style Green Hills House set on 4 acres of lush grounds only 100m from the centre of town. Green Hills House is the epitome of a slice of country living at its very best.
Participants will get to ride the stunning Brisbane Valley Rail Trail (including the Festival of Cycling course) and quiet local gravel roads of the beautiful South Burnett region of Queensland which is fast becoming an off-road cycling mecca. Enjoy fresh local produce and fine wines as you sit around the fire after a day on the trail with old friends and new.
We'll look after the Gravel and Johnny and Joanna from Groupset Cafe, both experienced restaurant chefs and baristas will take care of the Gourmet!
When you're not riding you'll be enjoying all that Green Hills House has to offer along with the vibrant Avocado Festival. There's no lengthy vehicle transfers to take up your time it's all right here for you....cool off in the pool, spend some down time on the day bed, have a hit of tennis on the clay court, sit by the fire pit or just relax with a good book in the stunning common living area.
Together we will do 3 rides (Friday afternoon short ride, Saturday the Festival of Cycling ride and Sunday Blackbutt to Yarraman) combining the Rail Trail and local gravel roads and beautiful forestry trails supported by the our experienced ride leaders, soigneur and dedicated support vehicle. For the Festival of Cycling you will transported to your chosen start point by the Gravel Cartel vehicles.
Your trip includes welcome drinks and Gourmet BBQ dinner on the Friday night, breakfast (Saturday and Sunday), dinner Saturday night and lunch Sunday prior to departure. Saturday lunch you will have time to taste local produce and food at the Avocado Festival.
"Gravel and Gourmet" is a cycling experience like no other and is the premium cycling tour of the BVRT.

The Team
Our team is made up of experienced event managers, ride leaders, soigneurs and support crew to ensure that you have an exceptional experience both on and off the bike.
Our ride leaders are experienced in small group rides and cater for various levels of experience to make sure all riders have an enjoyable experience.

Getting There
The South Burnett is just 90 minutes from Brisbane. Transfers to/from Brisbane are available on request and charges do apply.

Suitable Bikes
For this event MTB and gravel bikes are both suitable along with E versions of both of these.
The event is NOT suitable for road or commuting style bikes. Gravel bike hire is available for an additional charge.

Frequently Asked Questions
Riding Experience
Participants will need to be competent cyclists although you do not need to have gravel riding experience. A reasonable level of fitness will be required however the riding is mostly flat with minimal climbing required.
